Until the Transmission Gully motorway opened this was the first view that motorists from the south got of Kapiti Island. Technically the photo standpoint is in Porirua City territory but the boundary with KCDC territory is along the shore road (the Centennial Highway) to the right.

As readers know, the appearance of the sea varies from millpond-like to stormy, although much more the former. (Suzanne Vetter pic)
