Flanking with a saber (or sabre) appeared in the early 2000s and began to spread quite quickly in Russia. Today, it is quite a popular spectacle — the art of wielding a saber in a dance. Competitions are held in flanking with a saber or even two sabers, in which Cossack Associations take part. Flanking is a set of exercises that develop the culture and skill of handling cold weapons. It looks very impressive! Such performances are now very popular among the Don, Terek, Kuban, Siberian, and Far Eastern Cossacks.
