We suggest readers ask Council candidates in Kapiti what their attitude is to this racism.
by Elliot Ikilei
New Plymouth Council has made its intentions unmistakably clear: when it comes to awarding contracts, your race matters more than your product or price.
They’re proposing a new procurement strategy that explicitly prioritises businesses owned by Māori, iwi, hapū, whānau, and a vaguely defined group called “minority communities.” The message is blunt: white people need not apply [we assume same applies to other ethnicities —Eds].
The council wraps this in the language of “social procurement” and “delivering value for money.” But the real focus is on meeting “cultural needs” and making decisions based on race. Officials openly state the plan includes:
…strengthening engagement with Māori and iwi-affiliated enterprises… targeted outreach, supplier workshops, and simplified bidding processes.
Put simply, this is a system built to give racial preference — your rates paying to prioritise some groups over others.
Even more troubling is the process. The council is pushing to approve this policy before the October elections, promising to iron out the details after a new council takes office. This is putting the cart before the horse: agreeing to a race-based system without clear parameters, and before voters have their say.
If you live in New Plymouth, it’s time to ask your mayor and councillors what exactly they’re doing with your money, and why they’re rushing this through without proper transparency.
Infamous vaccine pusher Dr Peter Hotez recently had an uncomfortable moment during what started as a softball radio interview on Hello Houston.
Everything was going his way. The hosts praised Hotez for battling “disinformation” and hung on to his every word as if it were gospel.
But then, things went off the rails when a possibly vaccine-injured woman called into the show.
Carol, who says she keeps up with her boosters, asked Hotez over the phone why she suffered the “worst experience [she] ever had” just two days after her last covid shot.
The moment felt like watching a train wreck in real time.
At the time of writing this, here in Marton, we have a beautiful sunny day and all the signs of Spring with the beginnings of a new gardening season.
The winter blues will be washed away as we get out into that sunshine and start building up our Vitamin D levels.
It’s vitamin D that lifts the spirit and Vitamin D is a nutrient the body needs, along with calcium, to build bones and keep them healthy. The body can absorb calcium only if it has enough vitamin D. Calcium is a major part of bones.
Vitamin D also has many other uses in the body. It supports immune health and helps keep muscles and brain cells working.
In days gone by before the advent of sunscreens we learnt to only exposing our skin for short time each day to build up the pigments and natural protection.
But back then everyone (most, especially younger people) were very healthy and that is what gardeners should strive for this spring, growing a few vegetables either in open ground or in containers such as grow bags.
I suggest growing a lettuce called Drunken Woman which you harvest the outer leaves of and they keep producing.
Silver beet and the coloured varieties as well as the dark green leaf types which you can keep harvesting outer leaves till they go to seed.
I suggest a tomato plant or two like Sweet one Hundred to use in salads and a beefsteak one for sandwiches. Russian Red is also a favorite of mine as it is a medium size fruit on a bush type tomato plant.
Also a telegraph cucumber to grow in a sunny sheltered place if you don’t have a glasshouse.
All home-grown using natural manures with minerals added such as Wallys Unlocking Your soil and Ocean Solids.
For tomatoes you can’t beat Wallys Secret Tomato Food with Neem Granules as it grows healthy plants and fruit with real tomato flavour.
To complete the picture you spray the plants weekly with Wallys Magic Botanic Liquid which is also used to improve the germination of seeds by spraying them before covering.
The improved flavour of the produce that you grow naturally, tells you of the high nutrient content of the vegetables.
Unlike commercially grown produce that lacks flavor; as they are low (if any) of healthy nutrition values and are likely to be full of chemical poisons your body can well do without.
From my phone conversations I notice many people are wakening up to this knowledge and by growing their own stuff their health is vastly improving along with their families health.
Healthy is a condition you can’t buy but you can grow it.
One gentleman this week in a retirement village told me that he buys every few days fresh sprouts that are naturally sprouted from a local family business.
He told me that his health has improved significantly along with energy and mobility. The sprouts he has in sandwiches or as part of a salad and even as a side dish with a meal.
I told him that if The Magic Botanic Liquid was used while the sprouts were growing that they would be even better. He told me that he would tell the family that grows them for sale that information.
Of course, you can grow sprouts yourself so easily with one of the Mr Fothergills 3 tier spouters which cost only $20 from Egmont Seeds.
They say: ‘Grow your own, fresh, nutritious, tasty sprouts. Mr Fothergill’s Kitchen Seed Sprouter makes it simple and affordable.
Simply sprinkle the seeds into the trays, then water as per the instructions included. We offer a Mixed Microgreen Pack 58620, however, you can sprout any seeds you like individually.
Sprouts are often referred to as Nature’s Super Foods, and rightly so, they are packed with powerful vitamins and minerals.
A study that involved scientific analysis of the vitamin and phytochemical content of 25 types of micro-greens found that there were higher concentrations of vitamins and carotenoids (precursors to vitamin A) than the full-grown versions of the plants! Instructions are included. Ensure any seeds that you sprout have not been chemically treated.’
You simply add a little of Wallys Magic Botanic Liquid to the water you sprout with and you make them Super Sprouts with even more minerals and flavour!
There are jobs you need to get done now and the first that comes to mind is pruning of grape vines, roses, fruit trees and berry bushes.
If you are not sure how to do any of these then use a search engine for them and you have all the info at your fingertips and even videos showing what is what.
After you have pruned spray the wounds with potassium permanganate as well as the plant/tree etc., to neutralise any disease spores.
If you have stone fruit with curly leaf problems them spray them with Wallys Copper Nutrient and sprinkle our Soda Ash under the tree from trunk to drip line.
Spray your strawberry plants once or twice a week with Wallys Mycorrcin to increase your overall cropping by 400%.
Weeding… in gardens remove any winter grown weeds, ideally by cutting them off just below the soil surface with a sharp carving knife and leaving the foliage on the soil to be absorbed for food like a green crop.
Talking of green crops, don’t dig them in; instead cut the foliage off at ground level. Leave foliage on the soil then sprinkle Wallys Calcium & Health over the foliage to aid break down and to sweeten the soil.
Place a layer of newspaper or even better, cardboard over them, on top of which you spread purchased compost such as Value Compost about 5 or more cm thick.
Now you can plant seeds or seedlings straight away in the compost. The heat from the breaking down of foliage underneath will give seeds and seedlings warmth to get them away to a good start.
For late frosts use the new Wallys Spray on Frost Protection it will prevent damage down to minus 16 degrees frost within a day of application.
Also if you have deciduous fruit trees, stone and pip fruit a late good frost when in bud and flower will ruin them and the potential crop will be dismal if any fruit at all.
But a spray at 50 ml per litre over the buds at the time when they are showing colour will protect them and the flowers for one month and give them time to set fruit, a very later frost a month later can be protected with another spray at 25 ml per litre.
Growing garlic — have you had the dreaded garlic rust problem which later affects the size of the bulbs? Well try spraying the foliage now with a combination of Vaporgard and Molasses.
The Vaporgard film prevents the spores of the disease from settling on the leaves and setting up a colony/Rust.
It also protects the leaves from UV light allowing the plant to gather more energy from the sun and produce a bigger better result.
This is a tablespoon of molasses dissolved in a litre of hot water and 15 mils of Vaporgard added. Spray over the foliage for complete coverage on a sunny day in full sunlight.
Repeat again once a month till harvest time and see how that goes with your crop.
Common sense is back. ACT is proving government can be practical, disciplined and deliver real results.
This week we’ve secured a new medical school for Waikato while saving taxpayers hundreds of millions. We’ve restored clarity to your passport. And we’re standing up for fair opportunities based on merit.
Now, here’s what’s been making waves in politics this week.
Waikato Medical School – ACT’s fiscal responsibility saves taxpayers millions
A brand‑new Graduate School of Medicine is coming to the University of Waikato – and it will be built the right way because ACT demanded fiscal responsibility from day one.
David led the charge to make sure this wasn’t just another expensive project without scrutiny. ACT insisted on a full cost–benefit analysis and pushed for a funding model that respected taxpayers.“
Initial estimates forecast that the taxpayer would need to stump up $280 million.”
Today’s announcement confirms they will only need to invest $82.5 million. This is down to Waikato University agreeing to contribute a higher proportion of the medical school’s costs.”
ACT’s rigorous questioning helped ensure a more efficient investment meaning Kiwis get better outcomes for less” –David Seymour.
Because ACT held the line, Waikato University and its partners are now contributing over $150 million, leaving just $82.85 million from Government funding.
That’s millions saved while still delivering what matters: a medical school with a strong focus on primary care and rural health and 120 new training places every year from 2028.
And while we’re at it, doing more with less, this week a bill to put patient needs ahead of Treaty ideology passed its first reading in the House. Read Todd Stephenson’s statement here.
Your Passport Isn’t a Political Statement – ACT Made Sure of ItYour passport is one of the most important documents you’ll ever own. It’s what gets you across borders, onto planes, and into other countries. It’s meant to be clear, internationally recognised, and instantly understood.
Under Labour, even that wasn’t safe from their ideology.
They redesigned the New Zealand passport so that te reo Māori came first, with English underneath.
A passport that Kiwis take to every corner of the world – but the first language a border officer would see wasn’t the one they’re trained to read.“
English will appear first on the new design of the New Zealand passport, reversing Labour’s decision to put te reo Māori first.” –Brooke van Velden
And because this is being done as part of the next security update, this change won’t come at any cost to taxpayers.

ACT exposes race‑based hiring in engineering
Labour’s ideology isn’t just in health and passports – it’s crept into how young people get opportunities in their careers. Our very own Dr Parmjeet Parmar has raised the alarm about an internship program in engineering that only accepts applicants based on race.”
We must not let the rot that is so pervasive in our public institutions spread into the private sector…“
Businesses need to get the memo that they no longer need to engage in identity politics to secure Government contracts…”Race-based hiring, in any sector, is wrong. The ACT Party will keep fighting to stop this rot from spreading any further.” –Parmjeet Parmar
Imagine working hard through your degree, only to be told: sorry, you’re the wrong race for this internship.
That’s not fairness. That’s not New Zealand.
ACT is demanding answers, pushing back on this nonsense, and standing up for a system where every student has a fair shot – no matter who they are.
Turning Chaos into Order: ACT Ends Last‑Minute Enrolment Madness
New Zealand’s electoral laws are getting a long‑overdue overhaul – and ACT is proud to be part of it.Same‑day enrolments have created chaos and slowed down results. That’s changing.
Enrolment will now close 13 days before election day, giving the system time to process votes properly and deliver faster, more reliable results. And the days of “treating” voters with freebies are over.
A new offence will prohibit handing out free food, drink, or entertainment within 100 metres of a voting place while voting is taking place – with fines of up to $10,000 for offenders.“
It’s outrageous that someone completely disengaged and lazy can rock up to the voting booth, get registered there and then, and then vote to tax other people’s money away“
People who want to pull the levers of democracy ought to get organised, look at the policies, and register well in advance.” –Todd Stephenson
This is a significant change that strengthens our democracy and protects the integrity of the system.

Week by week we’re making sure your money is spent wisely and results actually happen. That’s ACT in action.
Thank you for backing us. Together, we’re building a country that rewards effort, protects opportunity and gets the basics right.
“Those who fail to learn from the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them” –common paraphrase, original attributed to George Santayana
by Geoffrey Churchman
It’s not something that needs to happen, and is definitely not something that the Russians want, but the Hitler-like obstinacy on the part of Zelensky and Nato warlords to concede any territory or in fact any of the conditions specified by Russia in June 2024 for a cessation of hostilities on their part make it inevitable.
It’s obvious to anyone, except the Leftist Legacy Media, that Ukraine is Stuffed. Standard & Poors has given the Zelensky regime a D credit rating (which means that it is defaulting on its debts), inflation is hovering around 15% and all the syphoning off by Zelensky’s henchmen of the billions of dollars in aid from Nato countries (NZ has given them another $US 10 million) means that its treasury is having difficulty paying its troops and civil servants.
And for Nato’s warring, weaponry is extremely low after the vast quantity that Blinken-Biden sent to Zelensky and a lot was sent to Israel by Rubio-Trump in June this year. Soldiers — how many Nazi volunteer divisions and press-ganged non-Nazi troops are left?
The situation now looming is an effective repeat of the battle for Budapest of World War II when along with the Hungarian fascist Arrow Cross, Waffen-SS divisions were sent there to defend it, which they did for 102 days between November 1944 and February 1945. Hitler had declared Budapest a fortress city (Festung), which was to be defended to the last man.
It wasn’t pretty: 38,000 civilians died in the siege and a similar number of Nazi troops. After the battle Budapest lay in ruins, with more than 80 percent of its buildings destroyed or damaged, among them historical buildings like the Hungarian Parliament Building and the Castle. All seven bridges spanning the Donau (Danube) were destroyed. There doesn’t seem to be an accurate figure for the number of Russian/Soviet deaths but it must likewise be in the tens of thousands.
The other big question is what will happen after the fall of Kiev? Will Russia offer the western territories that were respectively part of Romania and Poland before WWII back to them? Will Ukraine then become a rump state?
One thing that we can be sure about is that Russia doesn’t want to be an occupying power in the larger part of what can legitimately be considered historic Ukraine — occupation as the Nazis learned in WWII, and Dubya in Iraq, results in resistance activity initially and then insurgency, even if Ukrainians would be economically better off under the Russians they will be hostile.
Beyond that, Nato’s warlords will be seething about having lost and will be scheming about reinvading. Their economic sanctions against Russia and its allies will last indefinitely, no matter how much it costs them. The counter to that, however, is sure to be the rejection of war by European citizens who find their steadily increasing level of impoverishment because of their dictators’ actions unacceptable.
