This important port city wasn’t on the list of demands that Russia made in June 2024 but since it’s clear that Nato has no intention of ending its war, this is the consequence. It’s a city with major historical Russian association and is one of the two ‘jewels in the crown’ along with Lwow (a traditionally Polish city). Hopefully, it will be spared destruction by Nato.
