MOSCOW (ANP/AFP) – Three people were killed in drone attacks in the Moscow region, the governor of that part of Russia said on Sunday. According to him, it was a “large-scale” attack on the area surrounding the Russian capital. “A woman was killed when a drone struck a residential house. Someone else is still trapped under the rubble,” the governor wrote on Telegram. He added that two men were also killed in the early morning attacks.
Homes were also damaged and “infrastructure targets” were attacked in other locations in the region around Moscow. Russian air defense intercepted a total of more than 550 Ukrainian drones during the night from Saturday to Sunday, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Another civilian was killed in the southern Belgorod region which borders Ukraine.
It seems a big waste of resources for Nato when Russia’s air defenses are more sophisticated and effective than Ukraine’s are in Kiev. While on the subject of Nato, life is getting tough for Russian speakers in Latvia who comprise over a third of the population. Latvia’s rulers have a pathological hatred of Russia and have banned the use of Russian in public places and in state institutions. At one time dual language for signage and products on shelves was standard, now they can only be in Latvian. About 800 Russian-only-speaking Latvians who did not have citizenship there were told to leave late last year, no matter that they may have had children born there. This sort of ethnic discrimination is really uncalled for — you can imagine what Leftists would say if they had darker skin. —Eds
