Immigration activist group Remigration New Zealand says its members were targeted in a nationwide police operation involving armed officers, arrests and the seizure of electronic devices.

In a statement posted on social media, the organisation said homes belonging to activists and volunteers were raided as part of what it described as a “coordinated, nationwide crackdown” by the New Zealand Government.

The group claimed some members were arrested and detained while being served trespass notices allegedly issued on behalf of the New Zealand Indian Central Association.

According to the post, police seized private property including phones, laptops and other electronic equipment during the operation.

The group says the actions were politically motivated and aimed at suppressing opposition to immigration policies.

“This campaign of state directed repression is a desperate attempt to undermine growing public opposition to mass migration,” the group said.

The organisation said it was preparing a fundraising campaign to replace seized equipment and cover potential legal costs.

Police have not publicly commented on the claims made in the post.

It would be interesting to know how many Maori were arrested in these raids; many of them are unhappy with the massive flow of immigrants, too. —Eds
