One person has been arrested following a robbery at a bank on Mahara Place in Waikanae this morning.
Kāpiti Mana Area Commander, Inspector Renée Perkins, said police were called to the bank around 10.30 am. A man had reportedly spoke to a staff member before handing over a note demanding money.
He immediately fled the premises, taking an amount of cash, and got into a vehicle.
The man was seen driving northbound past Otaki on State Highway 1. Police pulled the man over and he was taken into custody.
Police continue to make enquiries and charges are pending.
It doesn’t say he actually presented a weapon, too. —Eds
