Someone has asked on FB:-
I’m concerned about this lady that is sleeping roughly on the stretch of road that goes along with the train station. She’s made home on the grass verge, she’s got rubbish bags everywhere, she bad mouths everyone, threatens everyone. Can something be done about it, she shouldn’t be there it’s opposite the bakery and barbershop.
Someone else has replied:
The way I see it is she wants to be seen, she’s had many many offers of help, but she doesn’t want it.
She is an eye sore, that’s a simple fact compassion or not and most people feel sorry for her, I think that’s why she’s chosen the most prominent spot she could find, however, she’s not outside anyone’s house, that would be far worse, and we don’t have to step over her on the street to get to the shops and she’s mostly quiet. She isn’t running about getting in the way of traffic. Seems she’s chosen how she’s living. No I don’t know her story but I’m betting it’s pretty sad.
It’s a crying shame she can’t be helped but You can’t help someone that doesn’t want it. Pity is she needs it but seems from reading the many many posts about her here, there’s nothing really anyone can actually do.
It’s obviously a mental health issue, but it’s not actually illegal to sleep rough unless it disturbs the peace or becomes a health hazard.
