That 38,700 is 2.5% up on 2013.  However, the total for the Waikanae Ward of 10,224 is 17.7% up on 2013 because of the change in boundaries (see earlier), and makes the Waikanae Ward 26.4% of the Kapiti Coast District compared with 23% in 2013.
