This concrete base of the clock in Mahara Place is another public piece of the town which needs some cleaning — someone with a strong water blaster could do it in an hour. Why not see to it, WCB members?

The ball is in your court WCB members.
As a Community Board in Otaki we’ve always been happy to raise issues like this with Council but I’ve always believed in “teaching people to fish rather than giving them the fish” so can I suggest trying to put in a Service Request through the council website.
You can find that here http://www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/Contact-Us/Contact-Council/ a little bit down the page. Service Requests are given a number (which is given to you) and staff are required to respond and it is part of the councils KPI’s. Give it a go 🙂
It doesn’t need to be done at public expense; a civic-minded local may be willing to do this for free, but that needs to be organised through the Community Board. Because of the dire financial straits the Council is in now, we need to look at ways to save Ratepayer money where we can 🙂
I would suggest that you approach Jeremy Seamark who was recently elected to the WCB. Jeremy is, in my opinion, someone whose motivation really is the retention of Waikanae as a vibrant place to live and prepared to physically support this.
Have done, Jeremy says he will attend to it next week.
