This is exactly the reply we expected — neither the KCDC nor the GWRC wants these projects, so the central government isn’t helping.
The underpass needs to be raised at council by the Waikanae ward councilor, and it would have been if Geoffrey had been elected. Waikanae east people need to wait another three years for that.
Simon Bridges’s reply on the Otaki railway electrification differs, however, from the reply given by former GWRC Kapiti seat councilor Nigel Wilson that the central government wasn’t interested in this. The new GRWC Kapiti councilor, Penny Gaylor, needs to take this up.
I still think we should ask Goodmans to accidentally take a wrong turn up Hadfield Road and across to the Huia Street extension with one of their graders…..
Does anyone know what emergency services are currently able to do? There used to be a crossing at ? Bunnings ? Goodmans ? onto the main road?
Perhaps the person to ask is Michael Scott, if we want something to happen before 2019.
Don’t forget that the clearances under the electric wires are higher at official level crossings than elsewhere; thus any ’emergency’ crossing must involve vehicles under that normal height. Of course, at present the wires end well short of the spot you mention.
Mmm, something to ask at the first WCB meeting at the end of January.
