At least we think it’s Kotare. That street that leads west into the bush in the centre left could be Kapanui and the (at that time) cul-de-sac leading off it to the centre of the view may be Belevedere, which later turned west to be parallel to Kapanui.

A few years ago a certain local property businessman claimed that all the flat area in the centre of the view was bare pasture before the 1980s, but that clearly isn’t true. Some of it consisted of stands of native trees that survived the creation of agricultural land in the 19th and early 20th centuries. (Ray Russell pic)
