Eternal Vigilance is the price of Liberty; Power is ever stealing from the many to the few” — Wendell Phillips, 1852

Our freedom of speech in NZ is being curtailed. Be very watchful! This applies to the anti-1080 movement, as well as to every movement or group whose cause is opposed to the agenda of the central government.
This video is an example of how quickly things can change… and then it is TOO LATE! Plus this is one of the gutsiest, bravest women I have seen in a long time!
(In relation to this film, Jacinda does not seem to realize that she is promoting a symbol of female oppression by wearing the hijab… a move probably well-intentioned at the start has gone on far too long!)
Aynaz Anni Cyrus, born in Iran, was sold as a child bride to a man who continually beat her and raped her, but when she walked into a court with a dislocated shoulder, bloody lip and bruised face, and asked the judge to help her because “This man is going to kill me.” The judge said, ” Well young lady, maybe you should start obeying your husband”.
Anni Cyrus managed to escape to America with her grandmother’s help. She tells us :
“Iran, until 1979, was “a very Westernised country. It was seen as a “mini-America” in the MIddle East. It was run by Shah Pahlavi and his Queen.”
The Shah made sure that Western education was available and he was a champion of equal rights for men and women, boys and girls.
In 1979 there was a revolution and the Shah “decided to step down until things were sorted out. So he left the country on a vacation and put together a temporary government.”
“A man named Ayatollah Khomeini came along and hijacked the country….. He came along and he promised the People of Iran free housing, free gas, free electricity… He took power and the first thing he did was get rid of the Constitution of Iran which… was the mirror image of the American Constitution, minus the Second Amendment.”
Anni Cyrus says, “Khomeini ruled the country for a couple of years and died, and Supreme Leader Khameini took power… I am blushing because I am ashamed. It is hard to go from that Royal Family to this.”
“On top of that, the country went to complete Sharia Constitution… ” …and the story follows from there.
