Wellington City Gallery

In case you’re wondering, the face on the ‘walking hand’ is not Donald Trump as reported by Stuff but a self-portrait of the artist, Ronnie van Hout.

There is a similarity of sorts between the Civic Square in Wellington and Waikanae’s Mahara Place.  There is a pedestrian area, including artificial turf, an art gallery, previously the central library and a library building that has been closed — in this case because of perceived earthquake risk rather than mould.  Unlike Waikanae, there are no businesses in the area.

There is presently an exhibition on at the City Gallery called “Eavesdropping” which seems appropriate given the situation in the country now.
