Waikanae Community Board member Margaret Stevenson-Wright and her partner John Vickerman have, over several weeks, been addressing the shabby state of the wall outside the Waikanae Memorial Hall.

The has included several applications of ‘Kleenaway’, a mould-inhibiting product to enhance the condition of the wall, plus the application of a multi-step process supplied by the RSA to address the state of the memorial plaque dating from 1981 that is recessed into the memorial wall.

The above photos show both the change in the wall itself and the significant change to the memorial plaque.

Margaret says, “those who served, those who currently serve and those that paid the ultimate price should always stand proud in our thoughts and memories.”
