Kia ora e te whanau Mahara
At the Gallery on Saturday 19 December at 3.00pm we will recognise the contribution Professor Les Holborow has made as Chairman of the Mahara Gallery Trust Board. Les is standing down after leading the Board for the past four years.
He has been Chairman through a critical period in progressing the Gallery Redevelopment Project. In that time the project has advanced to the design stage and secured funding which brings us within 10 percent of our funding target.
Re-building the Gallery and accepting the gift of the Field Collection is now truly within our reach.
As well as recognising Les’s service to the Gallery, we will take the opportunity of thanking our loyal friends for their support through what has been a challenging year and wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas.
Following the function at 3pm, our summer exhibitions by Trevor Pye and Te Ara Korowai will be officially opened.
We are happy to introduce our new Friends of Mahara convenor Diana Loubser who organised an excellent tour for the Friends of Frances Hodgkins: European Journeys on 19 November at the Adam Art Gallery, Victoria University. New Friends are always welcome, it is an easy and sociable way to support the Gallery at this important time.
You can also support us by filling out a ‘What matters most’ card in the Gallery or Library, or complete an online form conveying your support for our redevelopment project to Council by 9 December.
Thank you to all our artists, tutors, volunteers, Friends, staff, funders and many supporters for contributing in so many ways throughout this extraordinary year.
We look forward to the new year with excitement and optimism.
