This photo was taken about 7:45 am yesterday in clear weather and shows the two DA class diesels from the 1950s restored by Steam Inc. hauling a passenger excursion train to Palmerston North, next through the Manawatu Gorge to Woodville, south through the Wairarapa to Wellington and then back to Steam Inc’s base at Paekakariki.

This is how the Scenic Daylight train operated by New Zealand Railways in the early 1960s would have appeared (see earlier posts).
