Questions to answer about another lockdown
“The Government’s decision to put New Zealand back into Level 4 lockdown is incredibly disappointing and shows it only has one tool in the toolbox,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.
“Delta has been a gamechanger worldwide. We need to know if the Government has strengthened our defences in preparation for a Delta outbreak, since this has clearly been a risk for some time.
“The Government needs to be transparent about the performance of its contact tracing system. In past outbreaks it has been notoriously opaque. We must do better this time.
“Our low vaccination rates have left us a sitting duck.
“ACT sends our sympathies to those whose lives have been thrown into turmoil by this lockdown. We cannot underestimate the toll this takes on those receiving healthcare, business owners, school children and families.
“We are calling on the Government to bring back the Epidemic Response Committee. ACT will be here to make constructive criticisms where necessary and helpful suggestions where possible, while asking the questions New Zealanders need answered.
“The Government needs to communicate in a clear and timely manner, for example they should seek to announce Alert Level changes with notice, rather than with hours to spare as they did in the run up to the America’s Cup.
“Our thoughts are with the person who has been diagnosed, we wish them a speedy recovery and we encourage New Zealanders to follow the rules.”
We disagree that ‘low vaccination rates have left us a sitting duck.’ The warnings — some repeated on WW — that the rushed experimental medical treatments touted as vaccines might actually make things worse by creating more potent mutations of the China virus have been born out, and it’s also clear from the experience in Israel and elsewhere they are not much effective against the so-called Delta variant, so it’s back to the drawing board for Big Pharma.
In the meantime, we urge people to achieve the natural imune system boosts that the Jacinda government has neglected to make any mention of: reduce obesity, stop smoking, cut down on the booze, get regular exercise outdoors in the sun (when there is some; see Roger Childs’ excellent series from last year) and get plenty of vitamins and minerals in your diet from fresh fuit and vegetables. —Eds
While I commend the advice to boost one’s natural immune system, this will do little to stop the contracting of Covid-19, experiencing symptoms and possible fatalities.
I point to the fact that several Asian countries that have much higher consumption of fruits and vegetables, more annual sunshine hours, far lower levels of obesity (though they do drink less and smoke more), yet have far higher cases of Covid-19 and Covid deaths.
Here is the comparison of 5 countries of Covid-19 cases and deaths reported per 1M population.
Country Cases Deaths
NZ 585 5
Thailand 13550 114
Vietnam 2983 66
Indonesia 14064 434
Philippines 15876 274

Once again the Jacinda government’s troll pack shows up with counter-claims as we fully expected you would. We think boosting your immune system will do a lot, not only in the case of the CCP virus but normal colds and flu. Most of the deaths ‘with Cv’ everywhere are those over 70 and in poor states of health. Please stop this.

You figures do not indicate the ages of those who died. Without that they are meaningless.
Another politician who cannot see the forest from the trees…
I’m not sure what the hell he is going on about.
Seymour said the move made “no sense”.
“We are bottom of the OECD for vaccinations. Our low rates of vaccinations is what has put us most at risk of a Delta outbreak…
“We need to get the population vaccinated as fast as possible. Stopping vaccinations makes no sense. We should have been prepared for this.”
Over 2.5 million doses have been administered in New Zealand to date. However, less than a million people have been fully vaccinated.
“Our low vaccination rates have left us a sitting duck,” Seymour said.

Gotta wonder about these politicians, he seems more Draconian than Jacinda.

David Seymour is a long way short of the ideal, but he would make a big improvement over what we have now. Judith Collins would be some improvement. The Nats need to go back to the libertarian principles that they were founded on in 1936 instead of trying to be a centrist populist party that promises all things to all people.

To “Bruce” This website says the “Delta variant was first detected in India in March” not December, and that date seems credible. The date claimed by your clandestine group is not. https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2021/08/421171/how-dangerous-delta-variant-heres-what-science-says
