When Geoffrey and I take our regular strolls along the beach, we make a point of picking up discarded wrappers and pieces of plastic and placing them in a bin near the street. Fortunately, there is rarely very much.
Last evening, however, this bin was stuffed full and could not accommodate any more, so people just left trash by it. It was calm — but what if it was windy? KCDC should know that during this summer holiday period these bins need emptying much more often.
Could be a small prototype for bigger ones that could be used to clean trash out of the Beehive?
I’ll lodge a service request
I’ve made a general request to empty bins more frequently, but a specific location would help to progress action.
This one was in the parking area at the end of Te Moana Road, but all the bins from the Waimeha Stream – Field Way – south to the Estuary area are affected by rapid filling to the maximum.
Pam and I had an ice cream on the one of the big grassy circles at Maclean Park at Paraparaumu Beach on Monday about 5.00pm. Both rubbish bins were full to overflowing.
