Over the last few years, technology has evolved so much that not only can we access our bank accounts and online services with the simple click of a button, but we also have full control of our finances and investments.

Unfortunately, cybercriminals are matching the pace of this rapidly developing technology and creating even more sophisticated and legitimate looking scams designed to strip bank accounts and steal personal and financial information from unsuspecting victims.

To help keep you and your finances safe, XTB.com has identified the most common forms of fraud methods being used by criminals right now and shared five ways to never be duped.

Most common forms of online fraud

Vishing

Sometimes fraudsters may impersonate employees of various services on the phone. They mimic employees of known and popular companies and use their authority to make calls where they try to extort login, password, or debit/credit card data.

Under the pretext of additional authorisation, data update or system malfunction, they will often ask for personal information and try to persuade users to install apps like AnyDesk or TeamViewer, which gives scammers access to their phone or computer, letting them steal data or money.

Never give anyone your password to trading, financial, or any other accounts.

Phishing

This is when scammers create fake internet websites or emails closely resembling those from banks or investing companies. Often, they will use logos and copy the graphic layout of messages. Under the pretext of updating the data, authorisation or confirming the transfer, scammers will suggest logging in to such fake websites.

Never open suspicious links and attachments from unknown sources.

Smishing

Using this method, cybercriminals send an SMS in which they inform, for example, about a new transaction on your account and the need to confirm it by going into the link, which leads to a fake website.

Once a user logs into the fake website, scammers steal their login and password, granting them access to real accounts. To extort such data, scammers can also give different reasons, like deactivation of service or IQ tests.

Be reasonable

Almost everybody with an active e-mail address will have probably received emails from unknown sources at some point. While it may be tempting — never open email attachments from unknown sources, this also includes making sure that you don’t click on any suspicious links or banners.

Be private

Regardless of who you think is trustworthy or not, you should never share your login information or devices with anyone – create strong passwords and don’t use the same details for more than one account.

Be independent

While out and about, it’s easy to connect to public Wi-Fi or use public devices in places such as hotels and internet cafes without giving it a second thought, however, you should be extra careful when logging into any sensitive accounts.

Here is the latest police media release–

“Police continued to be concerned by the deteriorating environment at Parliament grounds and are urging people to stay away.

“Aggressive behaviour from protesters, extremely poor sanitary conditions, the confirmed presence of Covid-19, and the number of unwell people amongst the group all make for a an unsafe, and unpleasant environment for anyone thinking of joining the activity.

“Police have noted aggressive behaviour amongst protestors and towards Police. Increasingly, key protest group leaders are unable to control or influence the disparate groups within the protest.

“Last night, Police arrested a 35-year-old man and charged him with inciting violence. He is due to appear in the Wellington District Court next week.

“Police maintain that the protest site is not a suitable environment for families and children.

“We are urging people intent on attending the protest today or the coming week, to stay away, this is not a safe place.

“We do not want more people joining this environment and putting their health and safety at risk.

“Police will continue to have a highly visible presence in and around Parliament grounds to reassure local residents, businesses and people in the area today.

“Police estimate there are about 300 vehicles inside the cordoned area this morning.”

The police complaint about “poor sanitary conditions” is rich, given that Coster’s Obersturmführer Parnell tried to stop the trucks servicing the Portaloos from doing so.

But Coster and Parnell didn’t count on the support for protestors from plumbers and other tradies: the RNZ website states: “Protesters appear to have plumbed toilets into Wellington’s sewer system. A plywood structure next to portaloos at the junction of Molesworth and Hill streets has pipes that go below ground in the centre of the intersection. Protesters today have been putting up a similar small building nearby.”

We can likewise treat the rest of the police comments with a healthy dollop of skepticism.

Ardern says she felt “despair” at the news of Russia’s Ukraine invasion. She more likely did one of her little dances of glee, for if ever she needed a political diversion, she needs it now.

Under pressure on vaccine mandates, rising poverty, inflation and debt, Three Waters and He Puapua (separate Maori government) Putin’s adventure in the Ukraine was a heaven send for the increasingly faltering PM.

Should Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine matter to NZers? There may be unwelcome effects (like high energy prices), but there is still not a damn thing we can do about it.

In fact there is not much any Western country can do about it. Because we’re broken. After decades of “progressive” government decay, we’re weak, divided and poverty stricken, and in no shape to enter a war, even if it was warranted.

Additionally, we’ve suffered endless anti-Western brainwashing that has reduced most of our fighting age males to nail biting neurotics who see their main function in life as being doormats for the Marxist feminists who now hold most of the power in our societies.

A woman can be as dumb as a box of hammers, but if she thinks the “right” way, she’ll be shoved into a leadership position. To compound this problem, smart women who don’t think the “right” way will be kicked downstairs with the men.

We’ve also made a habit of prosecuting any soldiers who actually showed the ability to fight, and loaded up the command structure with trans-sexuals and God knows what else. Because diversity is more important than actually defending the country.

As well as destroying our fighting ability, we’ve seriously depleted our energy resources. While China and Russia have been busy building nuclear and coal fired power stations, and drilling for oil and gas, the West has plunged headlong into the infinite stupidity of “renewable energy”.

With our economies already in a perilous state, we’re now looking at even greater increases in energy prices than we have suffered so far. Oil is going to go astronomical. China and Russia hold all the energy cards, and that’s because Western leaders have unwittingly dealt them that hand.

Or did the leaders who have driven us to this precipice know that they were empowering Russia and China? There are only two possible answers. No, they did not know it, meaning they’re intolerably stupid, or yes, they knew it, and they did it on purpose. Meaning they’re traitors to the West. Take your pick.

Voters believed they had a choice each election. When really they’ve just been voting for the same old anti-western uniparty every time. Ardern and Luxon (for the most recent examples), are like peas in a pod. Both “climate change” fanatics and both welded to the destructive World Economic Forum ideology of globalist Klaus Schwab.

And people will rush out and vote for one or the other of these damn fools and so we will  continue to destroy our energy base and thereby boost the fortunes of China and Russia.

That’s if we’re still able to vote. China is watching what is happening in the Ukraine, and will note well the weakness of the West. They saw our humiliating collapse in Afghanistan, and how we ran from there leaving $ billions worth of sophisticated arms behind for the enemy to capture. A capitulation even weaker and more despicable than the Vietnam defeat.

The Chicoms could well decide its a good opportunity to put their long held plans to invade Taiwan into practice. Or they could go further, and come down through the Pacific taking Australia and New Zealand and any other weak Western democracies that stood in their way.

Who is going to stop them? Joe Biden? Boris Johnson? Justin Trudeau? Scott Morrison? Or God help us, Jacinda Ardern? Nope. No one will stop them, because they can’t. And maybe that’s been the idea right from the start.

So if there is indeed an election in 2023, NZers should try not to vote for the same anti-Western “progressives” they’ve been voting for for five decades or more. This time, they need to make their vote count for something other than their own country’s social and economic destruction. It might well be their last chance to do so.

KYIV—Ukraine is under attack by its aggressive neighbor Russia, and Climate Czar John Kerry couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. Kerry immediately hopped in his private jet, picked up a stack of solar panels, and flew them into war-torn Ukraine to airdrop them to citizens and soldiers about to get hit hard by the Russian army.

“This will help offset your missiles’ carbon emissions!” Kerry shouted down at the surrounded Ukrainians. “You’re welcome!” Kerry says he hopes the solar panels will help the Ukrainians achieve carbon neutrality in the midst of a full-on attack by Russia.

The move comes after Kerry called on allied nations to not lose sight of the important thing during the Russian invasion of Ukraine: climate change. Kerry said he couldn’t sit idly by and had to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to action on climate change.

“So, I fired up ol’ Bessy — that’s what I call my private jet here — and sprang into action,” Kerry said proudly. “These puppies oughtta power a good two, two-and-a-half homes during the Russian invasion. And once Ukraine upgrades to green, all-electric tanks, they should be able to plug in and power them up to help defend against the Ruskies.”

Future missions will see Kerry airdropping wind turbines, carbon credits, and reusable straws.
