This was a big campaign issue and several candidates made clear their intention to end this extravagant and wasteful vanity project of the last mayor. From what we can tell there are enough votes for the motion to pass — apart from Liz Koh, there are Glen Cooper, Nigel Wilson, Martin Halliday, Rob Kofoed and Cr Prvanov who have stated opposition to it. The item is 10.1 on the agenda. There will be opportunity for public speaking time on items on the agenda earlier than this.
I seriously hadn’t realised just how far the woke councils of yesteryear had gone down the maori language and associated handouts road.
We live in hope that this council will keep the woke mayor in check and return some sort of normality to the region.
