New Zealand has announced a Royal Commission into their Covid response. This should be a cause for celebration! Except, of course, the Royal Commission is being led by individuals who have spent the last two years vocally supporting lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and medical passports. If a Royal Commission is to be held, it must be conducted by impartial voices – or at the very least individuals unrelated to the main Covid narrative who do not have any skin to lose from a negative finding. There is a genuine concern that this particular Royal Commission will rope Covid criticism off during Ardern’s election cycle while also serving as a sort of ‘gold star’ to validate the moral and civil ills committed by the state. Is this a farce?
