Happy new year to you all, we are looking forward to a great year supporting and celebrating all that the Kāpiti arts scene has to offer as we work towards our district gallery redevelopment being launched midyear. The scaffolding has just come down from the new building’s northern side revealing the beautiful sculptural façade.
We are very happy to have curator Vicki Robson and Business Development Manager Sandra Smillie join our team as we work towards the re-opening. Meantime please visit our temporary gallery MAHARA iti further around Mahara Place, two doors down from old Main Road. We continue to run terrific exhibitions and promote local artists in our lovely space here.
We have an exciting events programme coming up: Live Art @ MAHARA, a series of free workshops and performances in Mahara Place from 31 January to 28 April for all ages and interests, supported by a Waikanae Community Board’s Promotions Fund grant. Many thanks to Fiona Gunther-Firth for developing this, plus a film fundraiser event in Paekakariki on March 19.
All you need to do is turn up and be inspired, moved, excited and delighted by all the talent that Kāpiti abounds in. Check out the details below.
