    One of my most effective letters to the editor came about when a bus shelter was installed at the beach end of Tasman Road, Otaki Beach a few years back now. In it I congratulated council for their good work on the “Otaki Beach Swimming Pool”. When putting the shelter in the contractors left a puddle a couple of feet wide and about 15 feet long. The weird thing was that you more or less had to step into the muddy puddle to ascend the bus. Quite why the contractors didn’t see this we’ll never know. A day after the letter appeared the boys were down there doing the business.
    I haven’t written a letter for a few years now as the local rags like the bigger ones are whore merchants for the government and their powerful cabal…
