… and it’s not to Guru Lane 🙂

Contained in last night’s WCB agenda, at the meeting the recommendation from the council for the name to be changed to Te Ara Tangata was passed.

The lane is the narrow one that leads from the marae to the Main Road and the new name means ‘The Path of the People’ which is one we like.

Frater was apparantly a doctor in the town who practised in the 1960s and little is known about him including how he happened to get the lane named after him. The Frater family are in agreement with the name change.

It has little practical effect as it is rarely used except on market days (see above) and has only one address in it, a commercial one.
