Egypt has reinforced its security presence along the border with Gaza, witnesses and a security source told dpa on Monday.
Security reinforcements and intensive security patrols were seen along the border, especially in the area of the Rafah crossing and the Kerem Shalom crossing, according to witnesses.
Security forces have been redeployed for reinforcement after Israel said on Friday that it would launch a military operation in the border city of Rafah, a security official told dpa.
The source also said maintenance operations are underway to increase the height of fences and reinforce barbed wire after damage from Israeli bombing of the crossing area.
Meanwhile the cost of the war with Hamas and Hezbollah to Israel has been the subject of scrutiny. The Al Jazeera channel puts it at $US 58 billion to date. Standard & Poor’s credit rating for Israel stands at AA- with negative outlook, although that is still the highest rating for any country in the region.
Joe wants to give Israel another $US 14 billion, but by including another big donation to the Zelensky regime of Ukraine in the Bill to achieve that, it’s unlikely to pass through the Republican controlled House.
Good that Egypt wants to help thwart Israel’s plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza by pushing over a million natives of the Levant into the Sinai desert.
Whatever their reasons (which would be multiple).
Egypt does not want these people, indoctrinated troublemakers, on their territory.
Quite a few assumptions here:
That forcing the lawful and longstanding inhabitants of Palestine to move once again, as the Israelis boast “another Nakba”, but this time out of Palestine into the Sinai desert, is somehow a moral option. Given that the new Ashkenazi migrants are not only illegitimate but uncompromising (Palestinians have accepted the loss of more than half their territory), why should it be the Palestinians who move? More obvious surely would be to find space for the Ashkenazis back home in Europe or Brooklyn. Or as Bassem suggests creating an Ashkenazi homeland in Florida – Bavaria has also been proposed.
That the primary reason (the only one admitted by Waikanae Watch) for Egypt to create a refugee camp for a million lawful inhabitants of Palestine in the Sinai desert is that they are “malcontents”, or “primitive”. I mean, where do you start?
That legitimate resistance to illegal, aggressive and violent occupation somehow makes you a “malcontent”.
As I grow older I realise that the values I have taken for granted are not actually shared by many or most New Zealanders, or Anglo-Saxons in general (living in Wellington doesn’t help):
– “The Resistance” – when I was a child we read all the time about the French and Yugoslav resistance to the Germans, and assumed such resistance was natural and desirable
– The value of human life: I’ve come across a startling number of people who are desperate to believe that Hamas committed atrocities, because they see that as justifying Israel in murdering thousands of Gazans (yippee!)
– Property rights – nah
– Home and garden lifestyle – nah
– Heritage – what’s that? Whether it’s colonial architecture in Wellington or the destruction of Nimrud by our ISIS allies in the Levant, New Zealanders seriously don’t care.
The situation in what was Palestine before 1948 is too complex to be summed up in a few soundbites — which is what those on both sides of the argument do.
What we know pertaining to what is going on now:
* Palestinians and Jews hate each other. * Hamas/Hezbollah/Islamic Jihad want to be rid of the Jews and vice versa. But neither will happen.
* Egypt has had enough of Islamic terrorist attacks on its territory and sees Israel as an ally in stopping them.
* 57% of Gazans are said to support Hamas. They can’t be allowed to come into Egypt without major vetting. Egypt has close to 110 million people — it doesn’t need more,
The pre-1948 facts are quite simple, even if motivations are complex or opaque.
The forces of darkness decide to create a nasty little European tumour in the Levant. To this end they arrange for the mass immigration of people with no historic, cultural or genetic links to the region. Precious little religious ties these days: as Ilan Pappe said, most Israelis don’t believe in God, but they still think he gave them Israel. The rest – the terrorism, massacres and ethnic cleansing by Ashkenazi thugs – is history.
Nope, Arabs and Jews – ethnic Jews that is – have not always hated each other, on the contrary Arab Jews, Muslims and Christians got along well for hundreds of years. Surely you’ve read Avi Shlaim on growing up as an Arab Jew in Baghdad? Any hatred is a result of Zionism.
You’re still insisting that the only possible reason that Egypt might not want a million refugees transplanted to the Sinai desert is because Gazans are terrible people – and otherwise this would be a great idea.
Egypt of course will do anything if the money’s right. Since the 1978 Accords, USAID in Egypt has funded over USD 30 billion for programs in public health, education, economic development, democracy and governance, with military subsidies extra. All so they will be nice to Israel – they wouldn’t want to jeopardise that.

It won’t be to support Israel, it will be to stop these people entering Egypt. You could be right about them treating it as a death strip like the East Germans did. Lessons for Joe along the Mexican border — if the Egyptians can do it so can America?
Of course it’s to support Israel, and to keep the funding coming in. Otherwise Egypt would simply increase security along the border. The idea is to complete the ethnic cleansing of Gaza and make the occupants of the Israel – Egypt prison camp the responsibility of the international community. Maybe New Zealand, deeply complicit in the creation of the terror state, should take half a million Gazans.
Your idea of a kill box along US’s Mexican border is … interesting. Of course in the case of Palestine the illegal immigrants are the Israelis. Are you suggesting that this is how Palestinians should have treated the Ashkenazis escaping from Europe in the ’40s? Arabs have different values from us, so unlikely.
