hyggelig — (Danish): cozy, comfortable, snug, homey (cognate with English hug).

This is a word which has made its way into German and in 2016 was considered as a new entry in the international English dictionaries like Merriam Webster, Cambridge and Oxford because of the frequency of its use in parts of America. But its usage wasn’t considered widespread enough elsewhere. It’s unlikely to be understood in NZ, except by small numbers of Scandinavians.
