Maybe the good bishop hasn’t heard of the 12 anti-Islam cartoons, which were published after Danish paper Jyllands-Posten advertised for the same, a strategy to create hate if ever there was one. The cartoons promoted Western tropes about eg Islam and terrorism, ignoring the fact that “Islamic terrorists” tend to be Western assets – has ISIS ever attacked the US or Israel?
In the furor that followed, people like New Zealand’s Tom Scott were screaming “free speech!”
There is a bit of a difference between a minor newspaper in Denmark and a major event like the Olympics Opening Ceremony which the Empire has ensured is Political as.
The Olympic Games is supposed to be all about bringing people together, and is certainly not the occasion for satire targeting a specific group or faith. That’s what makes this more serious than say, Life of Brian, or jokes about burqas, which I myself am guilty of sharing (not being a fan of any form of face covering).
However you are underrating the importance of the Jyllands-Posten cartoons. Specifically inviting cartoons about Islam (Muhammad?) was pure malice, designed to create hatred and division. The cartoons were widely disseminated and the story went around the world. Claims that this was OK because it was “free speech” were just pathetic. Likewise the present claims that nobody would ever ridicule Islam.
A major concern is that the focus on Christianity serves as a diversion from the depraved nature of the spectacle.
How disgraceful of the French to show a parody of The Last Supper of Christ with those disgusting men dressed as drag queens. Blasphemy.

How do they explain married men, who presumably have access to women, but also feel the need to interfere with their offspring?
That parody is about tearing down Western civilization – Madonna has also had a Last Supper theme in her concerts. She seems to hate Catholicism but she has made millions out of mocking it – she needs to cut the Pope a cheque. And to the naysayers, consider this: during the Roman empire if you were not part of the elite and your were a man, woman or child, your master could use you in any way he wanted to, before Christianity recognised the importance of each person.
