We have shot 70 possums over 2-3 years that were caught in a trap cage but we do not have knowledge of skinning or plucking the fur or using the meat .
Does anyone run courses on this ?
We bury the bodies under fruit trees for fertilizer.
Go to You Tube and there are some videos there of Glove skinning and Open skinning of possums. The possum meat is also very nice to eat and very healthy meat for cats and dogs, make’s their coats very glossy. Remember a possum only eats the very best of plant life and are basically an herbivore. We take off the hind legs of a doe possum and brown them in a frypan. Then make up a broth, Ox cubes, Onions or whatever tickles your fancy and stand the legs up in the broth and simmer for an hour or two. Serve with mashed potatoes and greens of your choice. You will not be disappointed. The rest of the carcass you can bury for fert.
