WASHINGTON (ANP) – There will be a “complete reset” in the trade relationship between the United States and China. This was stated by US President Trump on Truth Social on Saturday evening. According to him, negotiations were conducted in a friendly and constructive manner and great progress was made in Geneva, Switzerland.

Trump expressed the wish that China would open up to American trade.

The trade talks between China and the United States in Geneva were broken off earlier on Saturday, sources told the news agencies Reuters and AFP. The talks are expected to continue on Sunday.

This is the first meeting between China and the US since President Donald Trump unleashed a trade war between the two countries. The US has imposed 145 percent tariffs on Chinese goods. Beijing has responded with 125 percent tariffs on American products.
