The first law of the historian is that he shall never dare utter an untruth. The second is that he shall supress nothing that is true. Moreover there shall be no suspicion of partiality in his writing. –Cicero 62 BC

Ann David is the past president of the End-of-Life Choice Society NZ, an advocacy organisation that has been campaigning for the right to die with dignity in New Zealand for the past 46 years. She is an excellent speaker.
Ann has been involved in the movement since 2000 — initially in Western Australia and, since 2009, in New Zealand.
Thanks to our August speaker: John Granville

John entertained an audience of about 35 about phrases and idioms that have their origins in sailing, sailors and the sea. It was a very enjoyable session with plenty of humour.
On November 11
Wendy Huston and her successor as CEO Craig Tamblyn, will speak on the history and evolution of the Kapiti Retirement Trust.
Suggestions for topics and speakers are very welcome.
We still have the October slot to fill.
David Grant, who spoke to the KHS a couple of years back about Jim Anderton, has accepted an invitation to take the December session. More details next time.
Lynette Shum, David’s partner, will be speaking at Ocean Road Community Centre at 7.30 on 20 October as part of Wellington Heritage Festival. Her topic will probably be on her background and the Chinese heritage in New Zealand, and we might see if she will also deliver it to the KHS.
