the KCDC says:-

Following feedback from residents and elected members, we’ve confirmed changes to the Park Avenue shared path design. The hedge near Waikanae Pony Club will be retained and trimmed, and the section of path between the hedge and macrocarpa trees will be removed and realigned.
We’ll only remove macrocarpa trees if it’s necessary to maintain a safe and compliant design.
Hedge trimming and tree maintenance will begin next week. Infill planting between the macrocarpa trees has already started to offset recent tree removals.
The 645-metre shared path will improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility scooter users, with most work taking place off-road.
Construction is expected to begin in early February and take around four months.
