The amount of land being bulldozed at the top of this pic shows that a lot of former agricultural paddocks between Waikanae and Peka Peka east of the the old SH1 have been lost. But KCDC bosses will have eagerly calculated how much Rates revenue they will all bring into their coffers.
Can the fresh and wastewater infrastructure cope? Hopefully. Will the intended 1,200 houses create a lot more traffic along the main road? Of course.
Official info on the development, which was fast-tracked under the Jacinda regime, is here.
with all the population growth planned north of Waikanae has the KCDC thought about the additional infrastructure necessities that comes with this growth?
First we will need more trains. This will require 2 lines on the rails from Paekak to Pukerua Bay
Second there are already 10,000 plus ambulance trips pa between the Kapiti Coast and Wellington Hospital. A local hospital will be mandatory.
Third this growth will demand new Primary and Secondary Schools be built in the area.
KCDC probably has given it some thought but having as many Ratepayers paying as much as they can afford overrides all else.
