A young Moroccan man with an extensive criminal past was arrested and swiftly convicted on Spanish territory on Saturday after being caught climbing into the bed of a 62-year-old sleeping woman in her Ceuta home. The victim, Beatriz Ferron, has appeared on national media to describe the shocking experience of having a man wearing only his underwear crawl into her bed.
“Well, because he jumped onto the balcony—I live in the center on the fifth floor, mind you. Yes. He jumped onto my bedroom balcony. He came into my bedroom and got into my bed. I thought he was my husband, and when I turned around, I found a stranger in his underwear in my bed,” said Ferron.
“Thank God I wasn’t alone. It’s bad enough… If I had been alone and had given him time, I don’t know what he would have done. Really, I don’t know,” she continued.
The 20-year-old repeat sexual offender, who had entered Ceuta during the large-scale crossing on July 30 which saw over 100,000 migrants invade Spanish territory, forced his way into a fifth-floor apartment near Paseo de las Palmeras early Friday morning.
Around 7:45 a.m. he reached the main bedroom balcony, entered, and lay down beside the woman while she slept.
She said that the family quickly called the police and that he did not have time to get violent with her.
National Police units quickly sealed off the area and detained him nearby, close to Paseo de las Palmeras and the Puerta de África Hotel, only a short time after he escaped.
