Last week I renewed my passport. With one click and no supporting documentation whatsoever, I could have had it issued with my sex recorded as MALE or NON-BINARY.

Now I’m considering registering with a medical practice for the first time in 15 years. The form requires me to provide both my “assigned sex at birth” and my “gender”—because apparently being female is no longer sufficiently clear medical information 🙃🤡.

My gender options? Male, Female or “Another Gender.”

So I looked up what “another gender” might mean. There are at least 72 to choose from including Astral Gender, Cloudgender, Genderblank, Genderflow, Mirrorgender and Omnigender. 🌈🪐☁️🪞

I know many of us are already well aware of this, which is why we share so much about it on RCR, especially about the real-world effects it is having on the safety and fairness of women’s sport. But when you actually have to complete these official forms yourself, it really hits home just how far this has gone.

We have reached the point where official identity documents allow us to select our sex with the click of a button, while medical forms treat our actual biological sex as something merely “assigned” to us.

It is completely and utterly bonkers.

No doubt members of the Green/Kakariki Party have some more in addition to these.
