The US Secretary of Defense posted a photo from a Canadian cadet camp.

He’s mocking us, and he isn’t wrong to.

On 29 July the Canadian Armed Forces issued Military Personnel Instruction 03/26. Chaplains can no longer pray or say the word God at official ceremonies. Graduation parades, ship commissionings, mess dinners, Remembrance Day. It binds every member, every DND employee, every contractor. Indigenous spiritual practice is exempt for cultural and educational purposes.

So on 11 November, at the cenotaph, the one name nobody is allowed to say is God. [perhaps Allah would be acceptable? –Eds]

The Americans spent that same year closing their diversity offices, putting every combat job back on a single standard, and telling their chaplains to pray.

One country is rebuilding an army on merit. The other is writing memos about which words are permitted at the graves.
