The KCDC supports putting the power cables underground but the GWRC is yet to show support 🙁

Just read the article “Eyesore pylons vital for Auckland’s energy security” from August 23 2018. Burying the high voltage cables would cost billions of dollars. That’s Auckland, but it would apply to Waikanae as well.
Also note that burying the cables, the land above those cables would have to be free of development incase there was a fault in the line so that workers could access it easily.
