This is a magazine from America we subscribe to as we have a strong interest in beautiful surroundings created particularly with plants. We can’t help thinking that those in southern California in their extended drought are going to feel envious about the latest issue with pictures of ferneries and a Japanese garden.
But in Kapiti we’re lucky with rainfall (just unlucky with having a silly council that won’t catch and store any of it).
In our career as publishers we took a professional interest in language and note that this cover includes both the words Fall and Autumn — Americans actually use both. The reference to ‘mums’ here, however, means chrysanthemums. Who we call mum is ‘mom’.
