
We were a little bemused by a term in the M2PP press release covering the building of the bridge over the Waikanae River underway right now, wherein it stated that the embankments are going to be covered in “locally eco-sourced plants”. Er, what?
Of course, all that phrase — which deserves an entry in the New Gobbledygook dictionary — means is that they are not bringing in any plants from outside the region.
The above pic was taken last week in the Ferndale subdivison which shows some of this planting (the Expressway runs between the two ridges in the immediate background). It seems to consist mostly of flax which takes a while to grow.
