There have been reports of graffiti appearing in Waikanae and a reader has sent us this — a French artist has replaced the meaningless scrawls where they appear with type versions of the letters he thinks the graffitists are using. Something different.

There is a real scourge in Waikanae at the moment and it’s been taken off the WCB list. I’ve contacted Electra and Chorus about painting their power boxes to try to fix some of the nasty messes – but the WCB meeting has been cancelled for this month…..just trying to find out why, because apparently it is for lack of things to talk about……
and they want a 30% pay rise…
Have HAD…..
So another month closer to the opening of the expressway – June Matters under action included “Develop the Waikanae Town Centre plan, including
considerations from the effect of the expressway:
“The project has completed two successful open days where the community
was invited to comment on Waikanae Town Centre building block projects
that focused on SH1. Over the next month this feedback will be reviewed
and will inform a technical design report. This will form the basis of the next
level of detail design. It is expected these revised designs will be presented
to the Community Board in August for your comment.”
I am contacting the council this week and holding a DW meeting next Thursday evening at 6.30 p.m. at the Cardiff Room at the Waikanae Chartered Club if you can come along.
