With Lockdown and economic loss, this scheme is likely to be of benefit to more people this year than normal. The Department of Internal Affairs has had for several years a scheme whereby those on low incomes or get a Working for Families tax credit can have some of the Council Rates (including water rates) rebated. This takes the form of a credit on the first Rates bill for the next financial year, due in the first week of September
Applications for support close on 30 June 2020.
For more information see DIA rates rebates or water rates remissions, or give the KCDC a call on 0800 486 486 — which is where the application forms need to be lodged.
Actually the income year for the DIA Rates Rebate closing on 30 June 2020 is:
“Income means money received, before tax, 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019.” copied from the application form and from my knowledge of many years of receiving these rebates from the public at Council’s Customer Service Desks
Perhaps someone forgot to update the 2018-1019 part of the form? It seems quite strange otherwise.
No has always been end financial year before start of rating year.
