This was one consequence of the Transport Bylaw passed by the KCDC council meeting yesterday.
The whole subject of the Transport Bylaw occupies pages 6 through 108 in the Agenda viewable-downloadable here. The Agenda shows what was proposed, and the actual wording of what was passed could be different, but we understand the new wording for berms and verges as per below is that people can park on them with ‘due care’. But don’t park on footpaths/sidewalks.

Well, if this is going to be legal then people should park on the berm directly outside their own property and they take full responsibility and financial responsiblity for any mess caused by parking there and they maintain the area by spraying and mowing appropriately! There should be a legal document with their signatures only for those people who decide they’re going to use their berm for parking on. If they use the berm they can’t pass the buck and say that a particular mess wasn’t caused by them. They can’t have their cake and eat it as well! Sign the documents and take full responsibilty full stop!
Yup, If people want to park on the berms, they need to come back with a mower and mow the berm, wrecking their mower on the ruts that they have made.
If the council want to do this as far as I am concerned they can mow their berms again.
