from Jennifer Ramshaw of the The Friends of the Library.
Our next speaker in Readers and Writers 2022 (Friends of Kapiti Coast Libraries) is Dr Paul Callister, Senior Associate at the Institute of Governance and Policy Studies, Victoria University.
A Paekakariki resident, Paul is well-known as a bike and train commuter, putting his beliefs into practice.
Paul’s current research centres on climate change policy, with his main focus being on sustainable transport. He will demonstrate a well-researched alternative to Paraparaumu Airport, centring on the idea of ‘15 minute neighbourhoods’. He will present some fascinating challenges.
Everyone has an opinion about our airport – to love it or loathe it. Our airport certainly gives a special character to Paraparaumu, and provides space for walkers and cyclists of space, but there is no denying that it occupies an enormous area. Not everyone will agree with Paul’s talk, but it will certainly open our eyes to some interesting possibilities.
You are invited to meet Paul and hear his illustrated talk on Sunday 7 August at 2:00 pm in the Ocean Road Community Centre.
All are welcome and a koha is appreciated.
Yup, sell it for housing and use the rates money to build a dam and a tip.
But this and probably the next council would squander the money on stupid gateways and giving it away to certain groups.
This is a one time and the only opportunity for the council to do something right.
Bye the Bye Just why did the council buy that old rotting property opposite the BP and mobil service stations at kapiti lights if it had not use for it?
