from Chris Bishop, National Party MP

Did you see the news today that the Ombudsman has found that the government acted “unreasonably” in implementing MIQ [managed isolation and quarantine]?
MIQ was a lottery of a human misery and today’s finding by the Ombudsman is even more official confirmation that the system was wrong. It meant separated families, New Zealand citizens locked out of their own country and endless heartbreak and anguish.
Remember, the High Court has already ruled that the government acted unlawfully. MIQ meant that New Zealanders’ rights to enter their country was infringed and their rights were breached.
The Prime Minister has still not apologised for MIQ and today she again refused to apologise.
National will continue to push the government to formally apologise.
The government has established a Royal Commission into its COVID-19 Response but we have real concerns that the operation of MIQ won’t be fully covered by the inquiry. We will push the government to make sure MIQ is fully covered during the Royal Commission.
In around a year at the next election, you will get the chance to tell Labour exactly what you think of MIQ in the most powerful way possible – with your vote. If you’re keen to help National change the government, then please drop us a message.
Thanks for your support,
Chris Bishop
National Party Campaign Chair
This coming from Chris “Get Boosted” Bishop? The same member who on numerous occasions denigrated those wary of the mRNA vaccines? Who’s party failed to challenge the government on the mandates and in fact supported them. The same mandates the Ministry of Health and Director General of Health advised the government against and which have now been shown to be nothing but a vanity project of the vainglorious PM? You’re taking the piss getting into the covid response debate at this stage Bishop.
Chris …………… you are trying to make hay while the sun shines.
Wake up, clown ………… we see through your BS.
