Not only the financial cost to American taxpayers, but the cost in Ukrainian lives on the ground. Even top figures on the Ukraine side concede that their soldiers killed now total over 100,000 and both Douglas Macgregor and Scott Ritter believe the real total is somewhere between 130,000 and 150,000. To put that in context, George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq has since 2003 seen losses of about 4,600 American service personnel. In Vietnam the total was 58,200 (and what did it achieve?) The Russians are also paying a high price, their losses are estimated at about 25,000. But until Biden and NATO decide enough is enough and are willing conclude a peace treaty, this carnage will continue.
