There have been several covers, most notably by Dionne Warwick in 1966, but this seems to be the earliest.
Nice rendition, and notice that the singer is slim, attractive and nicely attired. She does not have to flaunt herself or simulate sex to appear to the lowest common denominator.
I must admit that I am going through my collection of music after learning about what some artists really are like and getting rid of stuff. I’m not talking about people who may have got a speeding ticket, divorced or had an errant child, but other behaviours like drugging and raping women etc.
RIP Burt. A true musical genius. And so prolific that many compositions are not widely known as being his.
