What happens to a government that Stuffs the country
Watching the general election on both TV1 and Newshub during the evening was an experience of mixed emotions — pleasure at seeing the dishonest, duplictious, tyrannical, divisive, anti-democratic and wasteful Labour Party get a good Stuffing, and irritation at the typically inane comments by the Leftists responsible for presenting shallow, inaccurate and biased news every night.
Although the drop in Labour’s share of the vote from 50% three years ago to 26.5%, about the same share that National got then, was a cause for ecstasy, it was disappointing to see small increases for the Ghastly Green Party and the Clown Party. We’re pleased to see Winston back, albeit also somewhat apprehensive — hopefully he’ll do what he promised.
As a reminder of what the Leftists have done to the NZ economy, this was the Government Debt clock as it stood this time 3 years ago:

And this is how it stands now:
We’ll have a lot more to say about this in a day or so.

I’m disappointed that Labour was not in the teens where seats were concerned – they richly deserved to be. Theirs was a government of student activist nobodies with no brains, no ideas and no shame.
‘…it was disappointing to see small increases for the Ghastly Green Party and the Clown Party.’
Yes, it will take years of hardship and deprivation to wean people from the green ideologues who want zero carbon which equals zero any living, breathing creatures. Maybe a few cold winters with no heating and shivering in a cold room with a candle will cure them of their nonsense, or having to put their car up on blocks because fuel is $5+ per litre.
For the separatists, the hard bite of a economy in tatters and their constant carping about every perceived slight should make people reconsider their support.

Winston does love the baubles of office and his ego demands some form of adulation. Maybe at 78 he can rein in Luxon and Seymour particularly where bodily sovereignty is concerned. I could not vote for National because Luxon is a stooge just like Seymour.
I was hoping that National and Act each lose another seat which would mean Luxon has to bring NZ First into the tent.
In any event, I’m so glad the student activist party has been deservedly routed. The TV crossover to a Labour party hall showed the cleaners in there before midnight and the reporter commented on a sausage roll being on the floor – so apt, and it raised a chuckle.
Winston has done more than any other NZ politician to try and thwart co-governance measures: think the Foreshore and Seabed, stopping Helen Clark signing UNDRIP. He also stopped Jacinda going ahead with a public interest journalism fund, no small matter, you’d think.
I appreciate that ACT is the logical choice for those who support a right-wing Rogernomics economic policy, which maybe explains the Taxpayers Union’s stance. However there really was no excuse for small parties who claim to oppose cogovernance, abusive education and the covid response not to back off when they realised that they didn’t have a show.
The Jacinda regime did establish a Public Interest [read Government Interest] Journalism Fund — it dished out $50 million in 2020 and another $75 million the following year. It also spent hundreds of millions with the Legacy Media advertising its covidiocy substance, 3<5<10 waters, Maori electoral rolls and several other Government interest propaganda.
