What folk don’t understand is, European is the dominant culture so they generally don’t need designated areas to themselves. They already have them. On the other hand, minority cultures are not just brown or other coloured European replicas. They do, whether Europeans like it or not, have their own cultures, which, like it or not, are different. Their values are different and they frequently feel uncomfortable in the midst of European company. They feel they cannot just be themselves. They were after all, frequently forced to give up their own culture and ways in order to survive in the new one, frequently imposed upon them, witness the removal of their own native tongue etc etc. Wishing to be alone with one’s own folk for a time to replenish is not racist or separatist as is often implied.
