The unelected management run the show. The whole idea of having elections is to hold the decision makers accountable and in America’s case right now that doesn’t happen because of who the two office holders are — someone with severe dementia and someone who is just too dumb.

All councils in NZ could function this way with no Mayor and no Councilors, and few Ratepayers would notice except when the Rates bill arrives, and even then most people normally wouldn’t care. This year, however, with an 18% increase when inflation is only supposed to be 3.6%, in Kapiti many are reacting ‘What the Stuff? How can this happen? Are Crs only there to be pretty faces who rubber stamp what the management put in front of them, most of which is a bullshit waste of money?’
