In the 338 seat parliament located in Ottawa, 170 is needed for a majority. The governing Liberal (Leftist) Party is projected to have 166 (160 in 2021), the Conservatives 144 (119 in 2021), the hard left New Democrats 7 (25 in 2021), the Bloc Québécois 23 (32 in 2021) and one for a Greenie (2 in 2021).

In terms of national vote share, the Libs have 43.5% (32.6 % in 2021), the Conservatives 41.4% (33.7 in 2021), the NDP 6.3% (17.8%). The Bloc Québécois only runs for the seats in Quebec, 78 of them.

Obviously, a lot of people deserted the NDP in favour of the Liberals which in turn must have lost a lot of voters to the Conservatives.

The notable and clearly successful platform for the Leftists was opposition to Donald Trump! Canada is the third largest trading partner for the US after Mexico and then China. As noted in the previous post, it should mean some tense times ahead.
